Tips and Cool New Stuff
- I'm new to ebay and just found GetItNext. Do you have any tips on how to become a savvy eBay shopper?
Checkout the GetItNext newsletter blog. It contains tips on how to use GetItNext to search and buy on eBay better. We will also be posting tips and ideas via our blog. - You mention that you will be rolling out new features and more cool stuff. Are you going to completely change things around all the time and make me relearn how to use the site?
We already have some big plans for some really cool stuff that will continue to help save you time and money.
However, we will always make an effort not to totally change GetItNext. Our goal is to keep things simple and to keep working on improving our guest's searching and buying experience!
- How will I find out when you add cool new features and functions?
There are actually 2 ways to stay current on new features and offerings.
Our GetItNext newsletter blog lists new features, tips and other cool factoids on how to search and use eBay better. In addtion, if you have "hints" enabled on the GetItNext search results page our friendly information bubbles will let you know cool new features too.
- What do the orange and gray g's above "feedback" mean?
The feedback section identifies ratings for ebay sellers from from 95 - 100% . The more orange G's the better the seller rating. The g's are meant to provide our guests with a quick rating symbol in addition to looking cool. Of course if you're a statistician we list the traditional seller feedback percentage that you're used to seeing on eBay. - An item I want to bid on only has 1 circle G, is it safe to bid on it?
1 circle G still means that the seller has a 96% positive seller rating - which, depending on the number of responses, is still quite a high score.
The circle G is only there to give you a quick glance at a seller's rating. You will still need to research the seller feedback and look at the negative comments in particular to decide if you want to do business with this individual.

Search Features
- What is the difference between the different searches you offer?
We offer three different searching options for our guests. Let's break them down 1 by 1.
What does the Hot Auctions search do? - Hot Auctions searches for the most popular and hottest items on eBay based on the keywords that you enter in your search.
What does the Buy It Now search do? - Buy It Now searches eBay only for "Buy It Now" items - no bidding is required. This search is for all you "got to have it right now" people or folks who don't like auctions. We also take the risk out of impulse buying to let you know if it's a good deal before you buy.
What does the Find a Deal search do? - Find A Deal allows our guests to easily find items with less than 4 hours remaining and 0 bids. Go ahead and give it a try. There are 1000's of bargains waiting just for you.
- What does the categories button do and why would I use it?
The categories button lists out the most relevant categories for the item that you are searching for. Selecting a category will help you narrow down your search and get you to the EXACT item that you are looking for more quickly. - How does adding and removing keywords help me find what I want?
Help us find what you are searching for by adding keywords to your search to tell us exactly what you want. For example, instead of typing "ipod" in the search windows type ipod nano 2BG black and that's what we'll find for you.
In fact, the best way to find exactly what you want is to ADD more keywords to your search, or in other words tell us exactly that you want.
The add and remove keywords tabs identify the most popular keywords associated with your search so that you can easily make your search more specific with a click of your mouse.
- How does GetItNext know which keywords should be added or removed?
We have a collection of apprentice search ninjas that review what you are looking for and determine the best keywords that help describe the item that you want. The keywords are also based on what other guests are searching for. Everytime you use GetItNext - you make it better because GetItNext is getting smarter!
- I love the saved search option. Do I need a login in to access them every time? How long are they saved?
To make GetItNext easier for you we identify each user with a cookie, so you don't have to login. The saved searches will be saved for a long time, as long as you do not remove our cookie! Unfortunately, your searches are only saved at 1 computer at a time. In the future we will give people the option to log into GetItNext in order to save your saved search no matter what computer you use. - Sometimes on your search results page it doesn't display the shipping price,
why is that?Sometimes a seller does not list the fixed shipping price in their auction. In order to calculate the shipping costs we ask our guests to provide their zip or postal code to provide an estimate of the shipping costs. - Sometimes on your search results page it doesn't display the options to buy it now, why is that?"Buy It Now" is only displayed if the item is available for purchase using the Buy It Now option. If the seller has listed the item as an auction only item, Buy It Now will not appear in our search results for that item.
- Why would I want to disable hints? To avoid a traumatic event such as being nagged by an annoying paper clip, we allow you to easily disable our hints at anytime.
- If I disable hints how do I turn them back on?Under user options, click on the words Enable Hints. This will allow you to turn our hints back on again. Don't worry we won't tell anyone you needed help.
- What does the number in parentheses mean in the current bid row? This number shows the current number of bids for the item you are looking at.
- Why are some items expired on my search results page?To keep you up to date, we automatically countdown the time remaining, it may happen that the time expires before you get to look at an item. This should save you time so you don't have to analyze auctions that are already expired.
-
Watch List
- I love the Watch List why don't you allow guests to save more items?
At this time our guests have the ability to add 8 items to the Watch List.
Please let us know if you would like us to expand the number of items that you can watch.
- I placed 3 items in my watch list but I only see one of them displayed.
Click on the right on side of the Watch List. This will open up the entire watch list and all of your watch list items will be displayed in the watch list window.
In the Watch List you can remove each item one by one or remove all of them at once. In addition, we also give you the ability to bid or buy it now on each of your watch list items.
To close the watch list screen, click on the double left arrow.
- What are the light grey double arrows next to the item picture in the watch list?
The light grey double arrows allow our guests to rearrange the order of the items in their watch list.

General
- Why should I use GetItNext instead of eBay directly?
GetItNext Has Better Search Results!
It is very difficult and time consuming to find exactly what you're looking for on eBay without a lot of work. It is even harder to find the best deals.

Find what you want and buy it!

We are a bunch of eBay junkies who have spent countless hours buying and selling on eBay. We think eBay is one of the best places to buy and sell items on the Internet.
